  1. Hi @CryptoJohn, Send a message to @SuperTramp, he probably knows someone willing to trade or sell. Best Regards, -Chicago
  2. Hello @CryptoJohn, Yes we do. We're going to need to look at faucet software again though to find something still safe and robust. Any suggestions? Best Regards, -Chicago
  3. ... and as long as miners stay willing to include ultra-low-fee transactions in the blocks, we should be a safe-haven for the masses who want to trade or conduct business with very little overhead.
  4. Hello @CryptoJohn, If you don't get a PM with more information, send a message to @SuperTramp, he may know somebody willing to trade or sell. Best Regards, -Chicago
  5. Hello @CryptoJohn, For the record we're about 38% through the emission cycle at this point. Plenty of Mincoins left to be had before time runs out and its a great time to start mining them while they are still very scarce. Best Regards, -Chicago
  6. Hello, @CryptoJohn Glad you're following us and keeping in touch with updates to Mincoin. We should be releasing the new client very soon. Basically, for the new version we have implemented Dark Gravity Wave v3 for the difficulty adjustment algorithm; have increased the coinbase maturity factor to approximately 5 hours and are now working on the fees. We want the fees to be reasonable so that it doesn't cost a faucet 0.1 MNC to send some test coins and so that a miner can transfer a days worth of rewards without too many fees. Our TestNet3 is active with the changes. The latest version of the Testnet3 client is v0.8.7.7. We'll keep you posted. Best Regards, -Chicago
  7. ... and today is a new dawn for the Mincoin Forum. The new upgrade to IPS Community Suite 4 will be an asset for years to come as this community grows. This site is looking mighty fancy.
  8. Hello Mr. Mincoin, Thanks! Yes, new release candidates have been posted in the Mincoin Development Forum for testing to ensure the compatibility across platforms as well as to ensure all the things work quite well. It is simply a transitional update, with new libraries linked into it, to secure OpenSSL and such. I took the opportunity to rebase against Litecoin when doing the work in order to eliminate cruft from the 0.6.x SandyCohen release and the earlier 0.8.7 Vipah release. The Alert system has been restored and a testnet has been erected. All of which we can validate as the testing stakeholders bring their nodes online. The new client will only communicate with peers using the new client as there is a protocol version upgrade to 70002 and a minimum protocol version requirement of 70002. As a stop-gap until we bring everyone on the same new code; a bridge node is operating to keep the current v60002 peers and the new v70002 peers on the same Best Chain. Largely, it will be a maintenance release we hope for everyone to adopt. Then, we'll be able to evaluate who is getting our message, by upgrading and who might be left behind when we do the next Network Upgrade to the v0.10.2.2 Litecoin code which will bring us the BIP66 improvements and then afterwards, v0.10.4.0 which will bring us a BIP65 lock-in too. After those steps, we can jump ahead to the fun stuff where the inherited build system on the modern Bitcoin/Litecoin code will give us releases for Raspberry Pi. Best Regards, -Chicago
  9. Hello, I'm kinda interested in checking out p2pool mining for Mincoin. Anybody else feel like getting a few p2pool nodes established and mining as we move forward on client updates? The patches from crypto-vein look good and could probably easily be ported into the latest stable p2pool code. Is the Forrest V p2pool repository still the "most maintained" or actively developed? Best Regards, -Chicago
  10. Hello, Thanks! So here is a report from a few moments ago from the bitcoin-seeder fork crawling our chain. The most stable full nodes are the following and I plan to update this list over time when the landscape changes or when those most stable nodes cannot be reached. That being said, the DNS Seed should be working for everybody now and does see several hundred queries per week. 139.162.128.92 45.77.6.168 104.130.211.223 [2001:4801:7827:102:be76:4eff:fe10:7c6f] 178.49.192.210 174.104.142.99 [2a01:7e01::f03c:91ff:fe67:dba] The only particular ordering applied to the above list is the order in which they were checked for availability. Best Regards, -Chicago
  11. Hello, Since the Mincoin distribution curve is flat and there are as many rewards per minute now as there were in the beginning and will be near the end, there are benefits for non-early adopters who want to start mining and still obtain a decent amount of MNC. (ignoring the first 4,320 blocks for argument's sake) I don't necessarily have a particular favorite to propose in regards to a CPU algorithm with characteristics to make it GPU / ASIC resistant but I am inclined to think there must be some particular hardware extensions on the various newer AMD / Intel chips which could be featured in a proof-of-work algorithm where plain chips see a hash rate of x +/- 35% (due to clock frequency) and the good chips see a hash rate of somewhere in the ballpark of 3x. For comparison, think processors from the late 90s encoding an MP3 before MMX extensions (with integer math optimizations) or video encoding before the various floating-point SSE extensions improved the throughput dramatically. Since I haven't looked too deeply at potential candidate algorithms, I am open to discussion and listening to the thoughts from others about algorithm change related suggestions. More than likely a "good" candidate will already be included in pooler's or tpruvot's cpuminer and have seen some action in prime time on a relatively secure chain. At the same time -- people have their Scrypt ASICs from 2014 and might want to have a chance to find profitability with them in the not so distant future on the Mincoin chain. Is the impetus to change the proof-of-work algorithm to secure the network or to level the playing field with one cpu one vote? Or for the sake of argument, does one cpu one vote actually achieve the goal of better securing the network? (I think it does very much.) Best Regards, -Chicago
  12. Hello, Please share recent nodes which are fully connected. Unable to find a sync with the network using previously published addnode entries. Best Regards, -Chicago
  13. Hello, It has been a while since I have had the time to do any development with scrypt and after starting my Mincoin wallet again recently, I began to monitor the "SetBestChain" notifications in my debug.log. If you care to follow along, look at height 595171 through 595199 for an example of our retargeting algorithm ineffeciencies. During this period, the difficulty remained above 5 but afterwards, momentarily dropped to 2 and then multi-pools came along as can be seen from height 595498 to present. This is pretty much what Mincoin looked like in April of 2014 when I had last commented on the promise of one minute blocks with SnowLeopard in #Mincoin on Freenode. When the blocks are several hours between, the loyal miners are not rewarded. When the difficulty algorithm finally retargets reasonably, the multi-pool miners take the money and run. ---------- This year, Kimoto's Gravity Well has been adapted to deal with the Time Warp vulnerability which has been used to attack various scrypt chains. I would like to collaborate with other interested developers on the Testnet to evaluate a fork of our repository with KGW enhancements for the benefit of the greater Mincoin community. ---------- The Newbie's Guide to Kimoto's Gravity Well https://forum.megacoin.co.nz/index.php?topic=893 Regarding Auroracoin TW exploit (Fix included) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=552895 Kind Regards, -Chicago
  14. Try using this github repository instead. https://github.com/vipah/mincoin.git It should report, "version" : 60500
  15. Hello, I have been monitoring my ~/.mincoin/debug.log and have observed many disconnections for misbehavior in a short period of time. MinCoin is the best Crypto Commodity and this should mean there are others who can help me figure out what is happening here. Without posting the IP addresses of the disconnected nodes, here is what I can safely report. Between 12/06/13 20:48:42 UTC and 12/07/13 18:35:54 UTC ( approximately 21 hours and 47 minutes ) there have been 1,055 messages similar to the following. 12/07/13 18:35:54 Disconnected host:9333 for misbehavior (score=100) -------- Since I am new to the scene and do not know what to expect, would someone be able to shed a little light onto this topic for me, please. Of the 1,055 disconnects; 954 of them were for nodes listening on port 9333. ( not sure if that matters ) Further to this, I see "receive version message: version 70002" in the debug.log from some of those same IP addresses. I am using "protocolversion" 60002 as reported in the output from ' mincoin getinfo '. What should I make of all this? Please advise, -Chicago
  16. Good Morning, I woke up today, executed a 'mincoin getinfo' and was happy to see a balance of 2. Now, I am in the game. -Chicago
  17. I think we should look back on your prediction in 5 years from now. -Chicago
  18. Hi Exentric, You're right about all of those things. The oddball observation is there is literally nothing about Crypto Commodity or MinCoin on YouTube. Maybe the next prize they offer should be for uploading videos about MinCoin and Crypto Commodity onto video sharing sites in order to increase visibility. -Chicago
  19. http://mincoinforum.com is the best Crypto Commodity. I searched per your request and the forum came up as the #1 top result. -Chicago
  20. You're right. Of these, the scarcity is the most attractive attribute. I say, "The best coin will be the first one to become precious." We will only get there after the simulation ends and all of the MinCoins have been distributed. -Chicago
  21. Hi Joseph, Can you find another link to that youtube video? The video has been removed by the user and I don't have any idea what is so funny. I would like to be laughing with all of you. -Chicago
