razer
Sorry to hear that. I think that there is no chance that you can get back your ltc.

If you re-formatted your hard drive and then re-installed the operating system the only way you can get your coins back is by having a back-up. If you did not back up your wallet prior to this then your litecoins are gone.
LongAndShort
You have a couple of options and depending on how much you want it to be back; you will use them accordingly. If you have that much ltc you want back then you will of course find a company you can pay to get those files back. Alternatly you can try these options and there are plenty of services out there just try one. I hope you get your .dat file back goodluck. http://www.piriform.com/recuva http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.com.au/hard-drive-recovery/?gclid=CKD26b-Mm7wCFYqPfgodeV0AEA

CC66
Depending on how much $ value you had in coins.. data recovery service from an HDD manufacturer or similar service would probably be more than you would be willing to spend.. If you had thousands or more in coins.. it may be worth looking into. If not...... Before deleting anything else or installing/uninstalling ANYTHING - Try downloading this. http://www.piriform.com/recuva You can also do a search for file recovery software because there are others that have more in depth options but this one is the easiest and most straight forward. (This program works for most recently deleted file types. I've recovered pics, vids, setup files, etc with this program. But I'm not positive if a wallet.dat would be too fragmented/corrupted to read again or not. I think a safe recovery will depend on how much free space is on the drive and how many other things you have been written to the drive since the file was deleted. So hopefully you didn't delete it then download a bunch of files.. or install/uninstall any programs.) Either way Good Luck! Let me know if this helped.
