Min-coin wallet for linux [update: new Linux Qt wallet on mincoin.io]

Recommended Posts

is there pre build binary for linux? like those at bitcoin and litecoin where one just download and just run the qt file instead of having to compile it.

Not that I've seen posted anywhere.  There will be a new wallet coming out soon from what I've heard, so may just want to wait on that.

You also may just want to store your MNC at mcxNOW.com to gain interest on it, at least until the next wallet is out since it's so soon?

I don't have any Linux QT compiling experience for these wallets, at the moment or I'd have done it too.  I'm going to compile the new version's daemon next week, so I might take a stab at QT while I'm mucking about.  No promises, though -- I'm busy. :P

Cool beans... however, I'll make the usual "beware of things you download from strangers and run on your computer" warning for anyone trying this.  I will try this when I get the chance (likely not for a couple days, as I'm on a deadline).

Typical things to do here would be to set up a new user and run it from there with a new wallet to make sure it's running OK.  There are guides for running new apps to make sure they do what you think they're doing, and to protect stuff on your computer, but I'm not going to ramble about that here/now.

Know that this is not an official release of the Linux QT client, so use at your own risk.

(if it's clean/legit, thanks a ton for getting us started!  I'm just using the opportunity to educate folks if they're not already thinking this way.)

Thanks for putting this together. As necom mentioned a newer client is now available. It has not been "officially" released as we were still testing it.

However, if we can get a couple of people (I dont run linux) to test out your linux client I would be more than happy to send you a few coins

for your efforts thus far :) Also, if you end up doing a linux version for the latest build I will be more than happy to send you some bounty coins

for that version as well :)

Thanks again for your support ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

I posted separately under the MinCoin Info thread about this... forgot this thread was here.  I suppose this is different though, since I don't have QT experience yet.  I'm mainly wanting to get Linux daemon compiled and updated on my server, but I'm happy to share it if I can get it working.

I suppose I shouldn't be cross-posting, but this thread is about client and other is general.  Here's the other thread:

Thanks for the info, notice the new wallet is released..  0.6.0.5

but its just a windows version..  (I know can compile from source, but was hoping for binary with static linked..  so that I don't have to install those dependency files.)

Thanks

I've been swamped lately, but I'm trying to follow up on this and see what I can find out about getting some official client/wallet and daemon releases posted.

Sorry in advance if I don't get this info quickly. :P

No worries, its not the end of the world..

Its a great to have, not a must have.. so don't burn too many brain cells over it.. :)
