  1. Ideas on the horizon (beginning mid December) Giftcards (amazon, newegg, restaurants like fridays, point of sale big box stores) FPGA host mining credits (to support the network, build interest in further development of my FPGA skills, and obviously mine coins without any overhead) I'm primarily interested in selling goods that have no overhead (shipping, production costs) behind them. But of course, MNC holders should always welcome those who take those risks to prop up the coin!
  2. RIP our MNC wealth #MNCforummoderatorsPOVERTYFUND I am 25 on the rich list ((((
  3. I consider myself to be a "polyglot" in that I spend a lot of my time learning and practicing my (so far) 10 languages, so it is very easy for me to track down translators whom I trust I am not sure if ST wants us to translate forum content for him, but I am happy to write a bunch of articles for here/JS dot com and have them translated so that we can reach others. If RS has content he wants translated, that is also not a problem either.
  4. MNC = crashes and recovers in 5 days due to community effort in pumping/taking risk Dow Jones = crashes and recovers in 5 years due to federal government pumping/taking risk on taxpayer behalf LOL (I took the average MNC price because it isn't fair to expect a coin with 10s of supporters to compete with the world's major economic index...)
  5. Your wish was someone's command! Just a few days after the dump, we're right back where we started not even the Dow Jones could say the same about 2008-2013!
  6. I further the sentiment that CPU mining isn't profitable unless you aren't paying for electricity. This is because CPUs have very very little RAM inside of them compared to GPUs, which have up to 3GB of RAM. RAM is incredibly important in the scrypt algorithm compared to Bitcoin's SHA256. Just curious- what is keeping people from buying GPUs? I'm willing to sell some for MNC/fiat/BTC!
  7. Not to further necro an off-topic thread but, 2 weeks ago feels like an ETERNITY ago to me!! I've gone from dipping my toe into the alt market to being a full fledged member that is learning a ton about all aspects of the cryptocoin industry in just 14 days. I hope I will have even more to say another 14 days from now.
  8. What are the mechanics behind this? What IP addresses are we connecting to, and how does it affect our computers? I am very interested in understanding this because if there is little drawback to it, I don't understand why every coin out there doesn't have millions of nodes!
  9. Another quick way to get a LARGE (!) amount of MNC is to make a service or product to be sold to people who currently hold MNC! Since the coin is currently undervalued, you could risk say $10-$20 on making and shipping a product to someone. If MNC ever doubles or triples in value, you just made 40-60 USD on a very small investment However, I too support the idea of a mincoin faucet, as I once ran litefaucet for 2 months back in March. Hopefully this new faucet, whoever makes it, will last longer!
  10. Not calling you out on anything, but I remember speaking to RS a few days ago about MC being exchangeable with any other coin on mcxNOW from day one and he replied "not immediately, but if MC launch is successful, definitely". I trust RS but I am hoping to have a good understanding of the tech he is making so that before it launches, I will be able to understand how he processes so many payments so quickly without the need for a block chain.
  11. I made a reply in another thread about this same topic, but I can probably expand a little more here. In my opinion, the only thing keeping from sharing their physical address, which is presumably at or close to where they live, is how much they trust the website owners with their info. Obviously it depends on how low of a profile they need/want to have in their own personal lives, but the average cryptocoiner probably would give their address if the following criteria were met: 1) Great, reliable, affordable service that fulfills a need/desire. 2) Hard to find similar quality services elsewhere. 3) The person(s) providing that service encrypted their data, behaved respectfully and etc online. I can't really think of why someone would give carte blanche trust to Silk Road but not to someone that aims to make a respectful attempt at furthering the community
  12. And of course, now that Congress worked for a few days, it is time for them to go on vacation!! Did you see all the pats on the back they gave themselves? Sad really
  13. Much adoration and money will be due unto you hahaha. Please make an awesome gui if you do find the time!
  14. Thanks for the input guys! Feel free to use any of this information to make more content for new users. I think it's no coincidence that Mincoin has already returned to its value a few days ago while other coins are down 100%. It shows where the pumps and dumps are...
  15. I think there is a big sect of the crypto industry that is paranoid about anyone knowing their address or location. That is why I think my giftcard idea would be a viable one, because they could at least use a PO box or redeem them online. However, I feel there is an equally large sect of cryptocoiners that would happily visit a brick and mortar shop, or would be comfortable giving their address to a party they could trust. Let me know what you put together!
  16. Poor necom I know how it feels to have to choose between fun and not fun research... Eventually there came a breaking point, and I chose "fun only" and promptly left my dreams of being an academic behind lol.
  17. Was in the woods during the alt purge and now ive been kicked off the rich list You will all pay, new Mincoiners!!! JK welcome to club "to the moon" BTW, who is the 100 btc whale who is dominating the orderbook? I think Mincoin is propped up by an interesting community of whales who are all hoarding and service oriented. By combining the specs of the coin (fast blocks, VERY little inflation), along with a community that has no intention of dumping what little coins there are, you get a coin worth using and supporting. It is important to identify whales though, so when someone is playing around with 5% of the total coins mined so far, it is interesting to guess who they might be and if they want to communicate with us.
  18. Will add more organization to this topic later. Here is my reposted video featuring the DE5 Net, a development kit from Terasic that has an Altera Stratix V as its FPGA. The price tag for the chip and board is 8-9k USD, and the Quartus II software necessary to write to the Stratix V is 4000 for a subscription. However, there are a few things that make me think this is still probably worth the price: 1) I truly believe with a few upgrades to the qdrii sram and improvements in code, it could handle anywhere from 15-40 MH. The Stratix V is certainly equipped to do it, it's a question of how upgradeable the qdrii sram is. 2) It runs on like 30w electricity and is portable in a briefcase. 3) the cost of 40 GPUs, 5-6 motherboards and PSUs, 15kw of electricity etc.. makes GPU mining wasteful and expensive 4) This FPGA dev kit likely has resale value in high frequency trading markets. 19. I think there is Bitstamp as well? I've always stuck with Localbitcoins and craigslist tbh
  20. Your massive dump came, but I don't think prices will stay this low for long now that US govt wont default and Baidu doesn't really change the game very much! Once there are too many businesses accepting BTC, people will come to altcoins like they did Bitcoin in 2012.
  21. I do remember speculating that the FBI supoena'd bitcointalk to gain access to DPR's accounts. If they have the legal authority to supoena a foreign VPN, then they likely have the power to supoena bitcointalk (and if they refused to talk about it, then that's a problem...)
  22. What goods would you like to see? You should take a look at my somewhat detailed giftcard proposal in the Economy section. That is the easiest way I feel for people to buy virtually any good with MNC without someone having to take the risk of declaring a brick and mortar shop or online business
  23. Let me know if you would like to collaborate as I have just earned 4 days off from work
  24. These current prices are killing me, I wish I had the courage to sell high and buy low, but I am too good at hoarding instead... Considering some alts have dipped 1000% off their highs, I think MNC at 18 is pretty respectable though
